The giants are battling still. Neither will surrender or even have coffee together. Windows has dominated the software scene and dictated the work of programmers for years. To sell programs it just has to be in Windows, otherwise, no matter how innovative, how useful or how much it could produce significant profit, “no sale”. On the other side Mac users are an almost fanatical group who name the definite advantages of mac programs as clearly over anything Windows can manufacture. Allegations of industrial spying have flown back and forth as well.
But instead of picking sides, why not use both. There are programs that can run applications on both systems. The reality is that many employers and businesses advertise jobs that require a knowledge and user experience on one or the other. The wise professional will maintain a working knowledge of both systems and be able to move between them seamlessly. In today’s job market the more assets you can bring to the workplace the less likely that you will be on the “long list” of candidates. By shortening or eliminating the learning curve, being able to produce on either system puts you in the driver’s seat almost instantaneously. Bypass the windows/mac debate: speak both languages.
