The giants are battling still. Neither will surrender or even have coffee together. Windows has dominated the software scene and dictated the work of programmers for years. To sell programs it just has to be in Windows, otherwise, no matter how innovative, how useful or how much it could produce significant profit, “no sale”. On the other side Mac users are an almost fanatical group who name the definite advantages of mac programs as clearly over anything Windows can manufacture. Allegations of industrial spying have flown back and forth as well.

But instead of picking sides, why not use both. There are programs that can run applications on both systems. The reality is that many employers and businesses advertise jobs that require a knowledge and user experience on one or the other. The wise professional will maintain a working knowledge of both systems and be able to move between them seamlessly. In today’s job market the more assets you can bring to the workplace the less likely that you will be on the “long list” of candidates. By shortening or eliminating the learning curve, being able to produce on either system puts you in the driver’s seat almost instantaneously. Bypass the windows/mac debate: speak both languages.

Processor speeds have risen through the years, and the ability of dual processors to handle more and more jobs at a time have accelerated computer power. Moore’s Law which states that the number of transistors that can be attached to a circuit board doubles every two years, also has a direct effect on the speed at which the processors can work.
This trend has continued to some extent and is expected to continue for a few more years to come. But, there has been some minor slow down in the rate at which processor speeds have advanced. This is due to the possibility that silicon, the base material for all semi-conductors, is reaching a limit as a material for use in these integrated circuit chips. Presently speeds of 3GHZ are about the maximum you can expect to find in current computers.
New materials on the horizon, using titanium and combinations of metals offer promise for future semi-conductors and should help to increase processor speeds in the future.
The jury is still out as to whether or not the speed is actually critical to advancement in computing, especially as the variety in the growth of applications and the way they function changes.
Advancements in storage using Flash memory are currently having a greater impact on computers than the speed of their processors.

Every ten years or so, someone invents something that will take the country by storm. The wireless network is one of those things. It includes items for everyday use like television, radio, and kid’s games, tracking systems, phones and computers. All of these made-for-people products have changed the way people act and react in the world.

Wireless Internet, for example, can be used almost anywhere these days; in restaurants, libraries, coffee shops and book stores. Naturally, the biggest place for use is at home where there is added comfort and privacy. There, the Internet can be searched without end if the person desires it because of the unlimited capacity of the service.

Many things can be accessed and programmed and communicated through the Internet and its many devices or hook-ups, as they are called. There’s the I-pod and I-pad which can interact through a wireless service, the cell phone is more elaborate these days than ever before and the things that can be done with it are astounding.

Having a wireless service can mean the difference between a child learning more and one learning less. Providing a super-highway for other means of information and communication like wireless alarm systems, wireless toys, gifts and hobbies. It’s a great way to share stories as well as studies and games or game systems. Who knows what the future of wireless will bring – the Internet and its gadgets are just the beginning.

We’ve got a few of the best new kitchen gadgets out there to help you apply those lessons and make your food stand out:
Square Colander – Why did it take so long for someone to come up with this? It’s more ergonomic and makes pouring more natural…it’s no wonder we hated boiling pasta.
Ice Orb – This vertical ice cube tray makes 21 cubes at once – what a concept! It’s slender and fits in any freezer and takes far less finesse than traditional trays.
Flexible Measuring Cups – Easier than ever to get all the honey out of your cup when you can squeeze the life out of it!
Hands Free Soap Pump – How many times have you struggled with raw chicken juice on your hands to try and figure out how to operate the soap? This nifty hands-free device takes the mess out of cleanup.
Fillable Basting Brush – Pour your oil or marinade inside the handle then push a button to make it come out into the bristles. Simple but genius.

In our world, technology is ever changing and continues to amaze us each day. Things such as smart phones and single unit laptops (tablets) are sweeping the electronic world.

So what about other improvements?

Home theaters have long been a staple in many households across the globe. They provide entertainment to the highest standard and the ability to enjoy movies at home in a way that is still revolutionizing itself. DVD players, high definition televisions and extreme surround sound have all shocked us with their realistic capabilities over the past few years, but what else is available to movie lovers these days?

The year is now 2011, and the technology related to the home entertainment field has certainly changed over the past 10 years. Is this new to you? Catch up here Televisions are not available in high definition to provide crystal clear quality, but some are even offering a 3-D experience that will put you out of this world! Blu-ray players have created the ability to watch movies as if you are in them, and with this incredible quality you probably will think that!

The term surround sound has taken on a whole new meaning. Companies are creating systems that will allow you to hear every breath and step that your character takes as well as create effects that will allow you to believe you are truly right there with them.

Day by day, technology is changing and creating new revolutionary features. While all of this may seem incredible to us now, over the next few years there is no doubt that we will be even more amazed with what is created.

With the onslaught of new technologies some folks have concerns that the PC is dying or dead; a no longer necessary piece of technology. Well, consider what PC means: Personal Computer…if the PC is dead then none of the technology we currently have; smart phones, internet tablets, and MP4 players would even be in existence because they all have components that actually make them very personalized and they are all in fact computers. So the reality is that PC isn’t dead, it has simply transformed and morphed into something different and even more personalized based on the owner of the specific product. Never has technology been able to be as personalized as it is today, everyone can have a product that is just as unique as themselves and nothing, other than the encasement of the technology, will be identical to anyone else’s personal computing device. In fact there are even different variations of encasements for the same products now to include different covers that can be personalized to the owner’s desire. So, just as a caterpillar morphs into a butterfly, the PC has morphed into an awe inspiring piece of technology. These changes mostly occurred during the last 20 years of the 20th century and the first 10 of this century and have yet to show signs of finishing this morphing process for anytime to come.

You might not be aware of it, but tablet computers are currently taking the world by storm. Many non-tablet user wonder what is so different about a tablet that cannot be achieved with a laptop or smartphone.

Prolonged Battery Life

One of the best advantages of using a tablet over a laptop is the longevity of the battery. The batteries within some laptops can only last for an average of three to four hours before they will need to be plugged in. However, a tablet computer might run on battery power for at least six hours. This is handy for those who travel or not sitting at their desk all day.

Portable Design

Another reason why tablets have become so popular have to do with their portability. Even when compared to a Netbook, most tablet computers will be lighter and slimmer in design. This makes it handy not only for the businessman to slip into his briefcase, but for the businesswoman to carry a tablet in her handbag. Most laptops are unable to compete with the size and weight of these gadgets.

Performance

More than anything, the popularity of the tablet has also been attributed to its performance. The speed at which the technology can operate and browse the Internet is truly remarkable. If you like what you see, keep going: Review: Eee Pad tablet transforms into laptop
